BA – Geography

The Department of Geography, Gov’t J.Buana college was established in 1983 under the North Eastern Hill University (NEHU). Initially, the department offered a two-year Pre-University course until 1996 when it has been extended with an Integrated Three-Year Degree Honours and General courses which was further replaced by Semester system from the Academic session of 2011-12. There are six semester courses in the Three-year degree course. The Department offers core Under Graduate Courses of Mizoram University (Choice Based Credit System) from the Academic session of 2016-17.

The Department hold various resources and facilities such as:

1. Department library: The department owns departmental library where a number of reference books and journals are kept. Students can use these books for educational purposes.
2. Laboratory: The department has a practical laboratory for doing cartographic works or exercises. A good number of practical equipment and instruments including the most basic ones to the most sophisticated surveying instruments are kept in the department practical laboratory.
3. Field work: Final semester students are assigned to go for group field work and prepare a dissertation under the supervision of their teachers.
