Department of English

Welcome to the Department of English, Government J. Buana College. English as an honours subject was first introduced in the college in 1996. Over the years, the college has produced a number of English graduates who have gone on to have successful careers in academic and other fields. The courses taught in the department are introductory courses designed to develop fundamental writing skills, skills of argument and analysis, and a historical perspective on literature. The English Core course introduces students to the many traditions of imaginative and critical writing in English through focus on canonical texts as well as texts from popular culture. The department strives to expand the literary and creative horizons of our students which will help them gather new insights into their own experience and help them develop their ability to express their ideas orally and in writing.

The enrollment in the current academic year (2021-2022) is as follows:

There are 250 students in the first semester where English FC also known as General English is being taught.

There are 23 students taking English as their core subject.

There are 22 students taking English as their core subject in the third semester.

There are 12 English core students in the fifth semester.
