The Freshers’ Social 2024 was held on 25 July 2024 at the Multipurpose Hall. Mr. V. Malsawmtluanga, MLA & Vice Chairman, High Powered Committee, Lunglei, graced the event as the Chief Guest.
The programme was organised by the Students’ Union. Isaak Rothangpuia, Vice President, SU, chaired the programme and Lallianpuii, V Semester, was the compere. The programme commenced with a short devotional service led by Lalrinzuala, Vice Chairman, EU.
The EU Choir performed a beautiful rendition of the song “Phurrit A Bo Ta Kalvaria,” followed by a welcome speech from Mr. Lallianzuala, the Principal.
An oath-taking ceremony was then conducted by Lalhruaikima Pachuau, Games & Sports Secretary, SU.
The Chief Guest then inaugurated the newly developed “JBC Alumni Portal,” with Dr. Vanlalmuana, Chairman, ICT Cell, explaining its features and benefits for the college alumni.
Mr. V. Malsawmtluanga also released the college’s 23rd Annual Magazine “Leitlang Dingdi.” P.C. Vanlalzeliana, the Editor, expressed gratitude to all contributors.
The Chief Guest then delivered a motivational speech to the new students, emphasising the importance of determination and a reverence for God. Mr. V. Malsawmtluanga also shared personal stories which he hoped would inspire the students.
The speech was followed by a solo by Isabel Lalnunpuii, III Semester.
The Prof. J. Zorema Proficiency Awards distribution ceremony then followed. The award was presented to Lalkhawngaihi, 5th rank, Department of Economics, by Mr. V. Malsawmtluanga, the Chief Guest. C. Lalchhanchhuaha, 8th rank, Department of Political Science, was awarded by Mr. Lallianzuala, the Principal. Dr. Vanlalhlani Ralte then presented the award to K. Lalpekmawii, 5th rank, Department of Mizo.
This was followed by a song from V.L. Hmangaihzuali, I Semester. Laldawngkima, the former Vice President, SU, also shared some words of wisdom to the new students. The Cultural Troupe then showcased a beautiful dance.
The event concluded with a Vote of Thanks by Benjamin Malsawmpuia, Gen. Secy, SU. Refreshment was served at the ground floor of Academic Block II.
